Nashville’s First Church of the Nazarene February 20, 2005 PM The Goal of Life 2 - The Call to Become (
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. All of us having unveiled our face are seeing in a mirror the glory of the Lord, and we are being transformed into the same likeness. This is from the Lord who is the Spirit.Romans 8:28-29 We know that God works in all things for the good of those who love him and are called to his will - for those whom he foreknew he also destined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Colossians 2:9 In Christ the whole fullness (complete being of God NEB) of deity dwells embodied, and in him you have been filled, …
John 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. 1 John 5:11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Anyone in Christ is a new creation; the old order is gone, behold, the new has come. Galatians 6:14May I never glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world! Circumcision is nothing; uncircumcision is nothing; all that counts is new creation. Colossians 2:16 Allow no one to judge you in questions of food and drink, or over observance of festival or new moon or Sabbath. These are only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way; I am the truth; I am the life; no one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:17 I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:23 Jesus replied: Anyone who loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.
John 17:11 I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. John 17:20- It is not for these alone that I pray, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me. May they all be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, so also may they be in us, that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one, as we are one; as I am in them and you in me, may they be wholly one. Then the world will know that you have sent me and have loved them as you have loved me. My desire, Father, is that those, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am so that they may behold my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world does not know you, I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Colossians 3:1-4 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me .
Luke 9:23-25 If anyone would follow me, let him renounce himself and bear his cross daily and walk with me. Whoever would preserve his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it. What benefit is it to anyone to win the whole world and forfeit or lose his very self? To your ethics To your habits To your affections
Ephesians 3:14 –21 I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name, that out of the treasure of his glory he may grant you the strength and power, through his Spirit in your inner being, that through faith Christ may dwell in your hearts in love. May you be grounded with deep root and have the ability to comprehend with all the saints the breadth and length and height and depth of the love of Christ - to comprehend that which surpasses knowledge – so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
John 17:19 For their sake I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified2 in reality. |
